My Story
From Door-to-Door Hustles to Digital Strategy
I haven’t always been a digital marketer.
In fact, I came from the opposite end of the spectrum — the kind where you knock on doors and disrupt strangers for a minute of their time. But that journey laid the foundation for what I do today. Here’s a little insight into how Trendwi came to be.
The Early Days
From a Dream to Drive
For most of my life, I was stumbling through, figuring things out on the go. But I had one lucky break — I discovered early on that I wanted to head a marketing department someday.
Back in Form Two, I fell in love with Topic 7 in the business studies book “Inventor Form-2.” It wasn’t just about theory for me. I dreamt of putting the 4Ps of marketing into action, and seeing my own billboards on real roads. That dream stuck.
But knowing what you want is one thing. Becoming it? That’s a whole different equation — and many lessons in between.
Hustles That Shaped Me
The Business Bug Bit Early

Hawking snacks at talent shows in school

Selling airtime during the days of scratch cards (yes, even with M-Pesa around!)

Running risky stationery sales by “borrowing” school fees before deadlines

Selling shirts, water bottles, Valentine’s flowers, and even handmade rosaries in campus
I didn’t realize it then, but looking back now — I had the traits of an opportunist. Always spotting a gap, always trying something.
Learning By Doing
Theory in Class, Practice in the Wild
At university, I studied B.Com, Marketing Option. But honestly? We only learned digital marketing as definitions.
Outside class, the world was evolving fast.
So I became a student again — self-taught in Social Media Marketing (SMM), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), and eventually, web design. I fumbled through my first domain purchases, graphic designs, and blog attempts. My first 7 websites? Now extinct — they were my playground. My 20+ social pages? All trial runs.
…the road was rough.
But you can’t stop someone who wants to rise. Who’s willing to learn, unlearn, and relearn.
From Employment to Empire
KCB Foundation → Raham Generations → Content Writing → Trendwi
I got a chance to work under KCB Foundation’s 2jiajiri program, helping youth-led businesses with marketing, accounting, and legal support. We mentored, financed, and coached dozens of SMEs.
Eventually, I decided to swim alone — turning down a contract renewal to chase something bigger.
After KCB, I joined Raham Generations Ltd, helping businesses remain afloat — until COVID hit, and the structure-less company couldn’t survive.
This Marketer | Strategist | Business Developer had to better his approach.
What remained? My relentless passion for a marketing agency — an empire that empowers other brands.
Wait…I’d tried consultancy with friends, academic writing, even exporting articles — but nothing grounded me like the dream of starting something of my own. Something that helped others grow.
That’s how Trendwi was born.

Well, I didn’t know my purpose at first. In fact, Trendwi came before I fully discovered it. But unknowingly, I was already walking in it. How? Through a mentorship group – Deep Life Divers. For 8 consecutive years, empowering students and youths felt (always feels) so fulfilling.
Puzzle complete; I just needed to align everything I was doing with empowerment: Providing means and confidence to succeed.

I’ve made many moves without plans. I’ve started things that failed. (I’ve made peace with that past) But look, those experiences shaped who I am today. And they power what Trendwi stands for – Your Success.
A Team, Not Just Me
With experience across; corporate, self-employment, entrepreneurship, non-profit work (propelling individual goals, social impact, personal fulfillment, and corporate objectives)…I made a key realization: –
One key lesson? No one can do it alone.
Now I operate in the field (across brands and industries) with Trendwi. I have a team — not staff — colleagues.
Look, you don’t have to do everything alone either. Delegation isn’t a weakness. It’s wisdom.
